Glenn I can't recall who, but I do remember reading of Bezos's gang of closed door analyst's referring to this VERY valuable data-base Bezos was building.
I got a Amazon spam and I've never been on his file. I'm betting he got it from Aol. I hope Aol's buddy Bert/B&N, doesn't find out.

I have another company who has made an entire business out of online tracking of customers on the net. Its called boomerang technology. Basically, once you click on an ad in their network they have you categorized and can offer you like-items on the next hit. Like in my case, Im an animal lover and once clicked on the Peta website. Now, everywhere I go it seems like the ad banner is some wildlife organization (WWF, The Nature Conservancy etc). Animals animals everywhere. My point is an online customer profile is in a completely different realm than a name and address you might get from a Sears cc database. There is nothing anyone can actively do with those names from Sears other than to send out direct mail.

Just an adversary opinion to keep you all on your toes.
