Yes I agree, the discussion on this thread is much of the time raunchy and defacing to individuals I hope this stops as I am only interested in discussion of the value of COS as an investment.

Regarding COS it appears to me that recent changes made to the company in terms of selling Netwinder and Jbridge are significant and put the company on a sound business plan that makes sense and has reduced risk. Some people are saying that wordperfect is a mature product but I see that it is still in a growing market and this means that there are lots of opportunities and certainly the goal of profitability is at hand. Much as Apple has benefited by concentrating on its core competencies so will COS. In the short term I am looking for opportunities to buy in, although I feel one should not get too excited and rush in as there will most likely be volatility in the share price now we have reached this price and the true benefits are long term. The trend is going to have to prove itself over the next year for everybody to be convinced.

Best Regards -- Dick Martin

That was directed to Watson who already took a shot at me. Are you coming to his defense. By the way why don't you add something constructive to this forum. Why didn't you tell Watson the same thing?
Total ignorance on your part Kerr. Kerr you should pick up a report as well and you should stop talking nonsense with me.

You are stepping in and not presenting anything that is useful on this forum. That comment was intended to Watson not you. Who asked you to participate in his defense? What are you internet buddies?

Anyway back to more absolute facts. From the news conference Alex Bulucka from Merrill Lynch asks the question "when was the last major upgrade cycle for each Wordperfect and Coreldraw product lines?" Mike Cowpland answers "when they release WordPerfect in the spring it will be two years and 18 months for CorelDraw. Release will be at the same time as the Microsoft release taking advantage of the greater in house traffic."

He asks about product growth for the two product launches. John Sylvestor responds by saying clear areas of growth. "They have a 50,000,000 million installed User Base. Huge area of users are looking for an upgrade and as well the initial reviews for both major products categorized it as a must upgrade. Second the product segmentation with respect to creating more products inside each of the big brands that focus on new users. The third area of growth is the international market place as well. Sales split this year at 60% in North America and 40% internationally. International sales continue to outpace domestic sales from year to year."

Alex asks "any focus on the OEM side and could we expect any major OEM agreements in the next couple of quarters?"

John says "we think we have been very successful with our OEM footprint and penetration strategy and i think that some of the things outlined here are important and i think one of the ones that wasnt mentioned that needs to be taken very seriously is our alignment OEM bundling alignment with Quark. They are bundling Draw with their product and I think that is a very clear assignment of CorelDraw, a vindication of CorelDraw as a very professional product aimed at the Mac and Windows Market Place. OEM continues to be a very important Market Place for us.

John with great great enthusiasm issues a very big big STATEMENT as his voice rises 3 loud octaves on the conference call and practically shouts with excitement from his earlier quieter tone >

********************************************************************

"I absolutely have some great announcements planned but im going to hold until we can make them formal. But yes, we are continuing to drive on the OEM; I think you will hear some big things from us as quarters progress throughout 1999."

*******************************************************************

Mike interrupts and says " we currently have of course Compaq, with the Radio Shack deal, Actva ,Gateway and Epson already announced.

This is my analysis.
Im thinking to myself, wow!, they must have these active deals already in progress. This probably is already adding to the bottom line in potential future profit growth for the corporation. This is a major deal for the company. You could hear it in John's voice big time. That was the biggest hint ever given by an executive.

If for one moment they announce an OEM deal with for example Dell Computer the Americans will take the stock more seriously as a future contender for growth potential. Momentum Players will jump on the stock if it is announced. A contract like that will bring in greater revenue for the corporation.

This could grow exponentially as more users start spreading the news that Corel has got great value software that does a quality job. Wall Street loves Growth.

Kerr if you continue with your unwise comments ill have to put you in the Watson category. Pleez say something intelligent.

Regards.
