That's probably the most famous Democratic and media mantra during this entire episode. "Everybody does it". The problem is it simply is not true. And if the Democrats and media had discovered the same things happening with George Bush or God forbid Ronald Reagan they would be screaming bloody murder for his impeachment. :-)

It still amazes me that these are the same people who only a few years ago created such a huge deal out of the Clarence Thomas issue. What a bunch of complete hypocrites. The left wing Democrats lead by Richard Gephard are the biggest bunch of hypocrites this country has ever elected. 27 Senators only a few years ago voted to slam a judge for perjury (about sex). How they can look themselves in the mirror and vote completely opposite now because it's their King Clinton defies fairness, justice and the American way.

The cynics on this thread can continue their diatribe until they believe everyone is as cynical as they are. All I can say is, I'm sorry your belief's in this countries principles are so skin deep.

If the President resigned tomorrow, Al Gore would become President and the country would move on as if nothing happened. In two weeks this whole sorry mess would be a dim memory for most Americans. One person is simply not that important to our country, our principles or our system of justice. The President is not a King. He has broken the law, broken faith with the American people and lost their trust. Is it really that horrible a punishment to simply fire the man??

Every day dozens of 19 year old soldiers and sailors are kicked out of the military for perjury, for lying and for far less than obstruction of justice. Why we should accept such a gross double standard from our Commander in Chief defies logic, fairness and leadership.

The defense of the President is not grounded in logic, but in a deep hatred of Republicans gaining a victory and possibly supporting their cause.
