Max, good post!! Put another way, there is an enormous difference between book value and market value. Book value is based on what you've paid for your assets (less liabilities); market value is determined by what other's will pay you in an arm's length transaction. The difference between book and market values is not necessarily an indication of management's conservative accounting practices. If the books are based on GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), there will almost always be a difference between book and market value. I believe the stock price failed to react to the PR since the PR stated Madera expects to get $96 million. Expectations do not establish market value.
