Uh, duh. I don't know a heck of a lot about the server side
(read that I can spell servur pretty good but not much else <g>),
so I don't know if a cookie would let you do that. I guess
a perl script or other server-side cgi could allow you to let
the user specify a local path once, then save it in a cookie
and pick it up again next time. You'd probably first check
the default location and, if not there, pop up a dialog
that says Would you like to download or else where the
heck should I look, then save it in a cookie ... something
like that.

Having been burned recently for posting
assumptions, which I knew were assumptions but somehow
nobody else did (can't imagine why<g>),
I hasten to add this is an inference based on my no-doubt
fairly idiotic notion of how it all works.
