You may be aware that Fed/Ex provides more that just delivery, they all provide logistics and service capabilities,e.g., just had my PC break last year and the guy who showed up to fix it was a Fed/Ex employee who got all the parts from the local Fed/Ex warehouse. They handled staging parts at various areas based on demand, thus eliminating a large part of shipping on demand costs.

Why couldn't they do a similar service for Internet orders, and they could even add a local customer pickup option to eliminate the individual delivery?
