I think a blindfolded person could just about be convinced tofu was slugs. Heh heh.

If the American Tofu Producers Association gave us say, oh, one million dollars, I bet we could build tofu's image, starting with changing its name.

Like that PR/advertising guy that convinced women to smoke around the turn of the century. Convinced them cigarettes made them look independent and "manly." Sufferagettes? Suffragettes? Notice how that's like a combo of suffering and cigarettes.

I think associating tofu with slugs is a start.

"Tofu is bean curd," you hear. Well, right out of the introductory/high-suspicion gate, that doesn't sound good.

Bean curd.

Curd isn't good. Curds and whey is bad. Curds are barely acceptable, but separated from whey, they get ugly. "These just had whey in them? What's whey?" "Thin white milky stuff." "Jesus. I'm glad you got it out of there, but I'm not eating it. "

So what do they have to do to beans to get curd? Run them through worms? Chew them first? Let them rot?

There's very little light in this tunnel.

What's a curd?

"A curd is when you cough really hard."
