**OT** re: "will of the people"

>I am not as convinced as you are that impeaching Clinton would be against the will of the people. Doing so would be against the will of SOME of the people. I have always questioned Media polls.

MJ,

Just to clarify what I mean by "will of the people"...

My understanding is that in politics in the U.S., the "will of the people" is generally taken to mean a majority, or at least a plurality, of the people. I didn't mean to imply it meant 100% agreement by everyone.

For example, if a U.S. President is elected with 51% of the vote, then he or she is considered to have been elected by the "will of the people" even though the remaining 49% of voters may have disagreed with the results.

So in that regard, the "will of the people" on Clinton's current disposition is [or has been up to now] that Clinton stay in office, because national polls consistently have shown that a majority of Americans oppose the President's removal from office.

It's appropriate to question "Media polls", as you mentioned. But I'm not aware of any serious flaws in any of the major national polls that that would invalidate the results commonly reported. Nor am I aware of any national polls, flawed or otherwise, that indicate a majority of the people want Clinton removed from office.

IMO, whatever happens to the President of the U.S. is linked to the stock market in some way, so in that sense it's not exactly an "off-topic" issue relative to BID, or to any other stock. But I realize others may not see it that way, so I'll not further digress into the political arena here. I just wanted to clarify what I meant by "will of the people".

>Perhaps Sotheby's could negotiate to auction off the famous cigar

MJ,

Yes, Sotheby's needs the famous cigar to keep pace with Ebay's famous baseball....
