All,
I wonder the effects of a barrage of e-mails to Large OEMS like Compaq, HP, Dell, Gateway etc. stating that "if you use the Pentium III we ain't gonna buy your computers" would be?
This could be nasty.

RE:”Rivals of PC chip maker Intel Corp. are likely follow the giant's
lead and put electronically accessible serial numbers on their
processors, said company officials and analysts on Friday”.

Could anyone expect a different spin from ZDnet? Makers of the Intel "friendly" Winstone benchmarks?

Herb,

"We expect to see our members using this technology," said Lauren Hall, chief technologists for the piracy-busting Software and Information Industry Association, whose members include software makers such as Microsoft Corp.

I feel very badly about the sorry financial state of Bill Gates and Microsoft, and I'm happy to do whatever I can to help the poor guy out. Even if it means giving up my privacy and personal liberties.
