I still think Jimmy Carter gets a bum rap for being "weak".
Your point is well taken. I was a research engineer for the a defense establishment at the time and even though I was not really aware what I was working on, it became apparent a few years later (I got that So that's what that gizmo was for flash). It was not a great time for me professionaly or economicly and that colors my impression of the time if I don't pause to recall all the details.
