Digital Me liability

I do not believe any liabilty is involved for the owner of the vault. There is no way in this system for personal information to be disclosed to a vendor. That is the only thing that the owner of the vault is responsible for. The owner of the vault just keeps your identity, verifies your identiity, and processes transactions.

Remember that the vendor sends both the order, the vendor's id number and the customers "public" id number to the vault. The vault confirms the transaction by verification with the customer, and gives out shipping information to the vendor. The vault may very will have to ask you which credit card you want to use to complete the transaction.

You still get billed by your credit card company, not by the vault. The vault is not the credit card company. Any liability for bad transactions, defective products etc. would be handled in the manner your bank or cc company currently uses.

Let's say for example you returned the product as defective. In a future internet ecommerce world, you access your credit card company site and enter your identity number. The credit card company then sends its id plus your id to the vault which then verifies your identity (according to the cc companies standards) and interaction with you and then allows you to access your financial records at the credit card company site.

The vault is not a bank, it is a way of establishing a secure internet identity that protects your personal information against widespread disclosure and allows you to engage in ecommerce.
