Question is what is a "good entry point" for a long position???

jach says 70-75. Before that he was saying 50. By next fall he'll likely be saying 100.

Dennis, if you are serious about being long, it doesn't matter what your entry point is. The next 2-3 years will be very, very bright for all companies in the telecom/datacom sector. Just jump in, IMO.

BTW, I sold off all of my CSCO at $75 in November... (needed the money). I've been holding onto a lot of cash waiting for a slight market correction... which I think might be just around the corner. (Of course I've been saying that since December! :-))

Anyway, I'll be back in CSCO and LU within the next two weeks or so. I'd like to see an entry point in both below $100.

Jay

Hell, I don't know, Dennis, I can't time the market, and I don't know anyone who can. If I wanted a long position in CSCO, which I have now, I would go ahead and buy it. If it goes up 20%, and you buy it on a 10% market correction, you are still behind. I own CSCO expecting it to double every year for the next three years, so I don't worry about a few points.

Dennis - CSCO dropping near $100 a share - this might be a good time to pick some up.

My overall prognosis for CSCO is for some near term turmoil in the price, as many of the high flying Internet stocks finally deflate, and CSCO takes a collateral damage hit. However, as soon as the herd realizes that CSCO is one of the very few Internet stocks that is making money (and lots of it) they will come thundering back into CSCO, driving the price to new highs. It is also possible that as the herd stampedes out of stocks like MKTW and YHOO they might decide to pick up CSCO instead, thereby preventing any meaningful drop in the price of CSCO stock.

All of this is entirely IMHO, of course. Because I can't predict what is going to happen I simply stay long on CSCO.

Regards.

Buy some LEAPs bullish call spreads and trade the legs. Relax.
