I, for one, will be much relieved when I hear that the IDX/Identicator deal has been closed. Until then, I will be plagued by a number "too good to be true" doubts.

Here is some more on Polaroid price claims, from Friday's Boston Herald:

"Polaroid is also selling a tiny fingerprint reader that could fit into a computer keyboard. Instead of typing a password, computer users could simply press their finger on the reader while the machine compares the image to one on file.

"Polaroid claims its scanner is so cheap it could be included in a $ 100 keyboard. Rival products normally sell for $ 100 or more just for the finger scanner alone, says Philip Scarfo, vice president for biometrics."

If you recall, Unisys is promoting a $174 IDT scanning keyobard. As for Polaroid, we'll have to see if they can deliver on price and goods. But at the very least, it helps indicate where this market wants to go.
