First, David, what does "BWDIK" mean?

I think Y2K will make a bigger impact on companies' perceived data storage needs than many people realize. No matter what one's personal opinions are on the impact of Y2K on us as individuals or our society, I do think the requirement of companies to address their preparedness for Y2K will have the ongoing impact of companies making sure their current and past data is "safe" and that their storage facilities are _way_ more than they need. Even when Y2K is a thing of the past, I think the one thing that will remain long-term is the constantly recognized need to protect data.

If I did not think EMC had l-o-n-g term potential, I would not have purchased shares in the company. I buy stocks for the long term rather than either to trade or hold for the short-term [as defined by the IRS holding period for short term losses and gains]. I do think there is more than enough business for the likes of Compaq and Dell to enter the market. Not having the obvious experience you do with companies and data warehouses, however, David, I was wondering if down the line, our gorilla could turn into a big chimpanzee [the next sized down anthropoid ape from a gorilla].
