Mohan, here are my thoughts on DELL and CPQ that I just private messaged John Rosser.

John, while sitting here and awaiting the IDC data I had the opportunity to calculate both the CPQ and DELL quarterly estimates.

CPQ, in my estimation, will come up short. They need to generate 25% sequential growth in order to make their $0.36 number. Since they haven't warned I'm guessing they will come in on the low side of estimates, namely $0.32. That will generate significant erosion in CPQ's stock price - to app.$40 - and will also impact DELL. I see this as an enormous buying opportunity for DELL, particularly if the stock drops under $80.

Speaking of DELL have you seen the latest IDC report on Data Storage. DELL is pegged with $946 million of sales in 1998. The large majority of this was generated in Q4. Add in a typically strong Q4 in Europe and the USA for PC's and servers plus ramped up sales operations in China and I estimate $0.38 eps, as a minimum and $0.42 the maximum.

I'm guessing that by the time the market sees the IDC data sometime next week DELL's stock price will begin its inexorable trip northward. By the time DELL reports the stock should have peaked at $110 - $120, sufficient for King Michael to bless us with another 2:1 split.

I'll message you with the IDC data Friday night.

Best Regards, Gabriel
