<<Do I also buy a PIII machine just to use your $2000 software?
So, you either wait till there's a large enough installed base of PIII's to make it economically feasible,>>
No!, my software that cost $2000 and up usually require a high end machine to run anyway, let say PIII and new KNI gang banger instruction sets et.
Now for the free advertisements I let people copy the full features of my software freely, but the EXE code will look for the CPU's owner ID, if it does not match the software will let them try for free like 15 days or so. I found so many Ideas to cook with this ID, it sounds so exciting.
Another Idea is to distribute the full features of my CD at the flea-market for free, let them try it out, if they want it they can log on to my web page, give me CPU's ID and download the software to enable it. If the owner have AMD machine, hmmmm that's too bad, I lost half of my customers but I gain 20x times back from the piracy crooks.
