Solo notebook line includes support for 366MHz Pentium II processor
NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 25, 1999-- Gateway today announced the immediate transition to Intel's® new Pentium® II and Celeron(TM) mobile processors which have cache integrated onto the processor for better performance. The performance-enhanced 300PE MHz, 333MHz, and 366MHz Pentium II processors will be offered across the Solo® notebook line. The mobile Intel Celeron processor at 300MHz will also be available in the Solo 2500.

Benefits of New Intel Processors to Gateway(TM) Notebook Clients
The 300PE MHz, 333MHz and 366MHz Pentium II processors have 256K of integrated cache, resulting in better overall system performance when compared to previous mobile Pentium II processors. The 366MHz Pentium II processor, the fastest Pentium II available for notebooks, offers investment protection for future software applications.
The 300MHz Intel Celeron processor for notebooks offers excellent value to clients interested in basic mobile computing. The 300MHz Celeron processor has 128K of integrated cache, giving clients more performance than the 233MHz Pentium processor with MMX(TM) technology previously offered by Gateway.

Solo Offerings with 300MHz Celeron Processor
The 300MHz Intel Celeron processor is now available on the award-winning Solo 2500, replacing the 233MHz Pentium processor with MMX technology. The Solo 2500SE starts at $1,699 with a 300MHz Celeron processor, 12.1 TFT display, 2GB hard drive, floppy and CD/ROM, and a V.90 modem.

The Solo 2500 is available with the mobile Pentium II processor at 300PE MHz, 333MHz or a 366MHz. Solo 3100
The Solo 3100 is available with the mobile Pentium II processor at 300PE MHz, 333MHz, or a 366MHz. This notebook is a fully featured, lightweight laptop ideal for the frequent traveler who does not want to make a lot of sacrifices while on the road. With a built-in CD-ROM or DVD-ROM II drive, the notebook weighs around five pounds and begins at $2,349 with a CD-ROM and a 300PE MHz. The Solo 3100LS begins at $2,999 with a 333MHz Pentium II processor and the 3100XL is priced at $3,199 with a 366MHz Pentium II processor.
Solo 5150
The Solo 5150, Gateway's thin and light, traveling presentation machine, is also available with one of the three new Pentium II processors - 300PE MHz, 333MHz, and the 366MHz. The Solo 5150SE will start at $2,299 with the 300PE MHz Pentium II processor. The Solo 5150LS will ship standard with the 333MHz Pentium II processor for $2,899, and the 5150XL has a 366MHz Pentium II processor for $3,699.
