Luke 14

26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

The Lord in this chapter of the bible continues on to tell us the importance of counting the cost of any endeavor before embarking upon it.
I greatly dislike a testimony that attempts to lure someone to Christ with something like, "Oh come to Jesus and everything in life will be just wonderful for you. You'll never know trouble again."
A flowery testimony that the Lord never preached.... His promise was
to carry our burden with us.
Jesus preached repentance, seeking the kingdom of God, taking up our cross and following after Him. He warned us that we would endure tribulation in this world for our testimony concerning Him but that He would be with us throughout, never leaving or forsaking us.
There is tremendous joy in the Christian's walk with God but if we paint a false picture that does not indicate counting the cost, how many will endure when testing of ones faith comes. Of a certainty, it will come.
