Richie, Michael and others: I said that upgrades could only be "incremental" i.e from a hold, to a buy (and very few of them), from a buy to a strong buy: or that earnings estimates would be upgraded. Still it would be good to have a chorus of approval.

What "concerns" me about the announcement is that it does not mention any other company as partner to the announcement. Mergers, buy-outs or that sort of thing, require both parties to be present at the press conference. So it does look like a made-in-Compaq strategy session rather than a deal - but who knows? It doesn't concern me about the timing. So when would they do it? Hopefully not on the same morning they announce earnings. To try to keep it under wraps would not succeed. So get it out as soon as possible.

Michael, last 4th Quarter was 0.42 It is amazing that we are all getting excited about 0.39-44. Not only has CPQ had a whole year to improve on 0.42 but it has the accretive revenues from DEC to add.

If they can do it with the bookeeping, (hope jim kelley is not listening) I would try to beat 0.42 for a good headline if I were CPQ.
