Possibly because we were responding to different posts, in which different sentiments were expressed. The subject of war in defence of liberty is perhaps more complex than it seems. War to defend ones liberties against outside aggression is laudable; war to impose ones own definition of liberty on other members of your own society - who may define liberty differently - is a different matter. War to defend the rights of another society, which may have a totally different conception of rights, is generally pretty foolish, and usually ends up stomping on the very rights it is trying to preserve.

We had to destroy the village in order to save it.

Venting spleen:

I've long since ceased to care if they impeach Bill or not, but this closed-door debate is bullshit. Having nobly taken on the task of washing our national dirty laundry in public, they now don't want anyone to see them with wet hands, or to know what position they take on the "issues" at hand. What a bunch of spineless worms. I didn't think it was possible for my opinion of the Senate to sink any lower, but it just did.

There, that's done. Has anybody heard a good joke lately? Or watched a really funny movie?
