Re: patented search technology. I believe that LYCOS, HOT BOT and Savvy Search have over a dozen search patents between them. They only stop someone from stealing your source code form what I understand. A copycat has free reign if they are willing to spend the time. In software a copyright is more powerful if you can get it.
