Good. The lower the opinion of the analysts, the lower the expectations, the bigger the future profits. I have long since stopped listening to analysts opinions. They are subject to group think and their recommendations are often based on investment banking considerations, what's good for them, not what's good for you. To consider these people as professionals like your doctor or dentist stretches credulity. I use their reports only where they appear to be talking about facts. The opinions and buy advice is of dubious value.
Meanwhile NT's last quarter profits and sales increases are much better than those shown by LU. We still don't know how CSCO did in the quarter. Cisco is in a class by itself, my biggest holding, but it is very vulnerable to the slightest disappointment. It's dominance of data networking is no guarantee that it will succeed in the mixed network system of the future. The time span over which the telecom companies will commit to packet switched is also open to doubt. Never underestimate the ability of a telephone company to drag it's feet, look toward the past, and try to protect it's sunken costs. Whatever time span seems reasonable, it will probably take them twice as long.
