Well you don't need to be japanese. Softbank is listed in germany in frankfurt, berlin etc. It should be possible to buy in germany if you're american, shouldn't it? Reference: SFT.FSE (Frankfurt) or 891624.

In general, I think highly of your posts and agree with your line of reasoning re. YHOO. However, you are wrong about the above. I am a US citizen with an account at ML in Honolulu and regularly trade Japanese stocks incl. Softbank and Yahoo Japan using that account. Son-san himself is not Japanese. As far as I know, he is still using his Korean passport...
