There was something about this "big brother" capability in the new Pentium 3 in the news today. I cant find the source but Im still looking. Some consumer groups are up in arms about the degree of "tracking" that is initiated in this chip the minute anyone logs on to the internet. Intel of course claims it is necessary for encryption and the like.

I think that franchised stores probably have a harder time keeping things straight.

But you are wise- the end result does not matter much but I think the electronic
capabilties to collect information on each of us is a bit scary at times.
