Petz

Thanks for clearing this short squeeze business up in a proper fashion. People who are not into daytrading sometimes don't realize that a run-up in price intra-day can be nothing but a small short squeeze. If you have a real-time quote feed, by experience, one can see such a squeeze coming on. That is when I bought and sold the following day. The fact that AMD had such a poor day today is one indication that such an occurrence came and went.

I have to apologize for name calling, but the manner in which some of the participants on this thread attack me: call me "vulgar Stevie", accuse you of lying, call into question tiny technicalities and so on can really annoy me and I guess I let them have it. I'm a busy guy.

But thanks anyway,

Steven

Re: "Elmer, I disagree with your analysis that Steve didn't know what a short squeeze was. You apparently didn't read carefully. First, he said, I think there is a short squeeze going on right now.
The tense here (present) implies that the squeeze just started.

Then he said, Everyone but the neighbour's dog has been shorting this thing. "has been" implies that the shorting occured in the past, i.e., before "is." Everyone knows that a large short interest is required for a short squeeze. If he thought a short squeeze was due to contemporaneous shorting, he would have said, "everyone and their neighbor's dog IS shorting this thing.""

Ah contrar. He made his claim while AMD was headed south. He clearly stated that the market was overreacting to bad news. You know what a short squeeze is, I know what a short squeeze is, and everybody here except Steve knows what it is. It is NOT a short squeeze when the stock is tanking. Those were the conditions that existed when he made that statement. That's why I and 2 others corrected him. You know better John.

Why can't Steve just admit he misspoke and we can move on? It's not the end of the world to make a mistake. We've all misspoke from time to time. You and Myself included.
