nihil, The FBI caught a german spy before PH and he confessed that he had taken detailed pictures of PH and sent them to his masters. He said he knew they were forwarded to the Japanese. Hoover made FDR aware of this but FDR sat on the info. The Japanese coded radio traffic in the weeks before the attack increased dramatically. The air craft carriers were ordered out of HB just before the attack, a giveaway that higher authority knew something was imminent. Only the aging battleships were left to be sacrificed. FDR was angry with the american public which said it's a european war and let's stay out of it. He had to sway the whole country. PH was not warned to expect an attack even though it was known that the japanese fleet was in the pacific and it's specific location was not known. Some other notes. When germany and ussr attacked and split poland in sept. 1939 England and france declared war on germany because of their agreements with poland. Hitler wanted to stay away from war with england. He had supporters there who shared his desire to destroy the bolsheviks in russia. His target was russia and the communists he hated. He turned his attention to england and france and drove them off the continent. Then he foolishly went ahead with his attack plans on russia even though logistical delays had taken up too much time and it was too late in the season. The russian winter defeated the germans.
