Paul, 3DLabs has not shipped the Permedia 3 on schedule. I suspect that the problem lies with their manufacturing partner, STM. Hell, they couldn't make Cyrix processors, so I doubt they could yield an 8 million transistor graphics chip. Also, heat is probably a big issue. I told them (Osman Kent; CEO) to use UMC and their 0.18u process. UMC got S3's latest chip working on first silicon in eight weeks. If the Permedia 3 debuts before the Voodoo 3, they will still have a small market window to sell it into the consumer market. Otherwise, it will still have a good lifespan in the WindowsNT/OpenGL workstation market (entry level). On the high end, 3DLabs Oxygen boards (using dual gamma geometry processors and huge amounts of texture memory) are being designed in by major OEMs. Pravin
