Tricky question. No matter what, two big announcements in proximity to each other timewise is RARELY, if ever, good. Two very good announcements at the same time rarely boost the stock price to the same extent that they would if separated by a week or more. However, two bad bits of news at the same time has a synergistic affect to the downside.

However, if you ask me, CPQ is taking a huge risk with little reward here. Unless both announcements (earnings and AV) are seen positively, the stock will drop. Even if AV is seen as good, a less-than-stellar earnings report will drop the stock. If AV is seen as bad and earnings good, the stock could drop. In other words, anything bad in either announcement could overcome any positive statements. That's the risk. Bear in mind, this is all just my humble opinion.
