The cross-selling, the reason why these companies did this merger, finally materialized. Of course, it was buried deep under an avalanche of crummy old-Salomon numbers. My suggestion: Get Michael-I-never-met-a-Salomon- guy-I-didn't-like-Lewis to chronicle the quarter and put the same kind of outlandishly positive -- and wrong -- spin he put on Long Term Capital this weekend in The New York Times. I can't believe the alacrity with which that culture was willing to lose money. Away from Salomon, the quarter wasn't half bad. >>> Tom
