CNBC analysts often find it difficult to master the subject matter of technology because it is so broad. I think that their last exposure to FC was with Ancor, back in May of 1996 -- which is a lifetime in technology.

Adaptec may have a sour grapes attitude, plus turf to protect.

Research by CNBC would should that Adaptec may stand alone, and certainly in contract to EMC, Compaq, Dell, Data General, IBM and SUNW. Those companies are spending money to respond to client requirements, and those requirements are being met by fibre channel. Apparently, the CNBC analysts have not yet read today's EMC announcements, SUNW's last week, Compaq's yesterday. . . .
