I agree with your characterization of his characterization of the behavior of the "traders", and true, he focussed on them rather than the sales people, but as I recall (and I read the book probably close to 10 years ago as well), he also got on the sales folk when he was relating his experiences in London. My recollection is that he did indeed have a "I'm better than you are" attitude, to some extent. However, it would have been difficult to write the book without that, I suspect. It was a good read, though, especially for those of us who don't have floor experience. If you know of any others that depict it in a readable, please let me know.

Another bizarre assertion in the article is LTCM saying that nobody in the media even tried to get the real facts, but instead just made up numbers. I believe it is almost certain that LTCM's phones were ringing off the hook with media inquiries. Ron Insana has vigorously stated on CNBC that he indeed did inquire, and was stonewalled as well as threatened.
