Highway Holdings Introduces New Clock Products Incorporating Patented Technology; Company's CompuClok Features Unique Internet Marketing Applications Business Wire - January 26, 1999 08:43 HONG KONG--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 26, 1999--Highway Holdings Limited (Nasdaq:HIHOF) Tuesday announced the release of three new timepiece products which employ unique, cutting-edge radio control (RC) technology. Each of the products incorporates RC clock movement technology which detects radio signals transmitted by the local country's atomic time generators, including the United States National Bureau of Standards (NBS-1) atomic clock. The radio signals enable the clock to maintain a one-thousandth of a second degree of accuracy. The company's Time PC desktop alarm clock features patented RC technology, incorporating dual digital and analog displays, a countdown function and a thermometer. When connected via cable to a personal computer utilizing the company's CompuClok software, the clock can be used to calibrate the computer's internal clock. Highway Holdings' CompuClok Internet software produces an attractive clock image on the computer desktop and provides standard time information, including a countdown feature. CompuClok can also be used as a marketing/promotional tool by embedding the company's logo. The program contains a unique feature that enables the user to directly connect with a company's Web site by clicking on the embedded logo. Highway Holdings also announced that it has applied for a patent with regard to this unique feature. The company's third product, Global Essence, is a specialized global travel clock that also utilizes RC movement technology. The ultra compact timepiece features dual time displays, alarm clock and provides instant feedback to the user on all 24 time zones. Designed for the business traveler, the clock also incorporates a weekly business planner.
