to all: Regarding trending down after great earnings report. If you check under SUNW you will find that SUNW just announced yesterday JINI which allows interfacing. They announced just this morning an agreement with SEAGATE to utilize JINI in disk drives for Storage Devices. As you all may know SUNW is making a big drive to enter the storage device industry, I have always felt EMC was Seagates biggest customer. Wonder if they damaged EMC with their new SUNW alliance? Also wonder what effect SUNs JINI will have on EMC software etc. Thoughts anyone? I own both SUNW and EMC. JDN

I think many people expected a split. I can say that with confidence. If you look at these discussion here from last quarter on, and the stock price and the split level from the last split, it was clearly anticpated by many. Not all, but many.

Of course, that doesn't mean anything. However, once a stock passes it last split price, the psychology of "when will it split again" comes into play. The higher it goes, the more that thinking builds.

I am not going to go over every research report from all these analysts to recheck their tacit or explicit indications of a split.

If they didn't mention anything during the CC, then they may still be thinking about it, but haven't disclosed it. IBM and MSFT didn't mention anything either in their recent earnings report and CC, and a couple of days later: BOOM. New NEWS. Both announced splits.
