Mike: Just a quick framework...... the concept of transplanting encapsulated cells is not new. The concept of correcting diabetes with transplanted beta cells is not new. The concept that the brain is an immunologically privileged site is not new. Checkered past....... see Hana Biologics ----> Somatix -----> CEGE for an example of (TM) STUPID SCIENCE. The concepts, including neural transplants for Parkinson's, are old. Pharma is jaded. What is new? CTII reinvented itself in 9/97 with Rose/Weissman.
