Dear JDN: Okay, I see the background for your question. There is a difference between a stock dividend and a spin-off. CPQ's past splits have been considered stock dividends [for the purposes of taxes]. I once held a bank stock where investors could pick-up additional shares in addition to those received via a stock dividend. Since AV is not a dividend, it will be like LU, NYNX, et al when they started trading for its investors. Regards, Lynn I better get over to the EMC thread. Just heard their earnings were a,"blow-out."
