On: << Anyone, who is EMC's closest competitor? >>

jhg, to the best of my knowledge, it's IBM, especially because IBM is strong in "enterprise storage", due to their roots/legacy in mainframes.

As to "web-based" or "net-based" storage, a new competitor is NTAP encroaching on the "low-end". There was a recent article by Jim Jubak on MS Investor about this "battle". Anyway, NTAP shares have performed very well lately, the market seems to like their outlook and positioning.

Anyway, the 10-K report from EMC should disclose their main competitors.

regards,
Thomas

EMC's main compeition is IBM, to a lesser extent, Hitachi. Does not regard SUNW as a threat at all. Until a new technology comes along, EMC dominates intelligent enterprise storage. but that new threat might be storage on the internet networks? ANy thoughts or info anyone? storage on the net.
