The stock split should be announced on the 17th....
However it will probably split in March or early April. Yes this will have a psychological effect and the stock price will run up. Alot of long term investor's like to buy stock of good companies after they split, just ask around. People are always saying "It's to expensive now, I'll wait till it splits".
Just for example, lets say a 3 for 1 is announced, as I hear it will be, and the stock runs up to 140 and splits. How long do you think LU will be at 46????
IMHO it won't be long until we retest the highs of 120....And then the Split announcement :) from which we go ^
Good luck to all......

Bill~

i agree. essentially a firm splits it's stock to reduce the market price and make the shares more attractive to a larger pool of investors. initially, it's not beneficial for stockholders because share prices are reduced proportionately with the increase of the shares outstanding. the after effect, more buying due to share price reduction, drives the price up and there's the benefit.

earnings help too :-)
