I wasn't implying Vinik got booted from Fido, just that it all sort of happened in the same period and no effective punishment actions were taken against him. Actually, pump and dump applies to brokerages not fund managers; I was just using this as an extreme example that there are not any practical restrictions to the practice. True pump and dump is when a brokerage builds a position, their anal comes out and says good things and their sales force sells like crazy. As far as how the trading dynamics of the Inuts are working, I wish I knew because I could then make a freaking fortune. But I have heard that hedge funds have had their wings clipped quite a bit, but I don't know to what extent on an overall basis, much less company specific. Regards, Ice
