"Dave is a bad influence <ggg>."

Yeah, you guys help with network support and I pay you back by coaxing the green stuff from your wallets <g>!

Ain't the internet funny that way? Start with companies that aren't trying to make profits (buy, onsale), add essentially 0 marginal shipping on large orders for non-huge products (buy), throw in the internet sales tax moratorium, lots of corporate rebates, and best price match gaurentees, and there's nothing like the internet for inveterate bargain hunting.

This won't last forever to this absurd degree, since the need for some profits will eventually rear its ugly head, and governments will not (or certainly should not) treat net sales from other sales differently for long. Even so, I case my vote with ZP and Sean--buying from good vendors on line simply can't be beat.

I would enjoy looking at buy's books from 98-2000. I wonder how much of a go they'll make from advertising, etc. If they keep it up, they (and others like them) will be AMZN's worst nightmare.

BTW, MS Money 99 actually nets at -$1.05, thanks to the $15 rebate <g!>

Guess I was luckier -- buy.com just kept telling me I had 0 items in my basket <g>.

I may have received that message as well. First it said that my shipping name and credit card name were not the same. Naturally they have one place for a first name, one for a last but none for a middle initial. Then they ask for the name on the credit card EXACTLY as it is written. Well there happens to be a middle initial on the card.

If my memory is correct I resubmitted with the same info as before and then it told me I had nothing in my shopping cart.

I now have six ATI Expert@plays on the way from buy.com and two ATI Expert 98s from NECX.

BUY.com did not answer my email.

Spots,

have you seen software that emaulates CD's so you could use a HD as 30 CD tower. Most software will run ok normally. but I have seen some that check the volume label or that the drive is read only or won't run. I see often this with accounting and medical software libraries....
