MOSCOW, January 26 (Itar-Tass) - No decision a concrete amount of mint gold coins has been made yet, Deputy Chief of the State Treasury Dmitry Ignatyev told Prime Tass on Tuesday. A resolution on issue of mint gold coins will be passed by the State Duma, Igantyev said. He noted that issues related to the issue of gold coins would be discussed at a meeting of the budgetary committee of the State Duma.

Ignatyev declared that no decision has been made either as to who will provide gold for mint coins - the State Treasury or the Bank of Russia.

Ignatyev pointed out that gold coins are expected to be an adavantageous way for the population to invest capital since gold coins in circulation will be exempt from taxation, including the value added tax.

In 1998, under an agreement reached with gold prospectors 108 tons of gold were produced in Russia. The total amount of gold produced was estimated at around 132 tons, Prime-Tass reported.
