Sam: I am not so sure about 'forced conversions' in India even including days of Vasco da Gama.I think "Force", either in the physical sense or in other ways, is always used in the 'conversion' business as exemplified by the invasion of Europe by the Moors of North Africa, then later on during the times of the 'crusaders'.

I wish people keep their religion personal and to themselves,at home and may in places of worship and not use it as a political tool or to enhance the number of the followers. It will be a pity in my opinion if all the people of the world had one religion, one language, one culture and goes by the name John as we now witness in S.Korea,Hong Kong,Taiwan,Singapore etc....I mean what is with Licoln Chen,Timothy Kwan,Anthony Balakrishan.etc ..if it happens it will be a dull place indeed.

I believe religion is best kept personal,in the home and houses of worship. And oh ..may be places of religious festivals so that we all can participate in the events without regard to religion.

I think the best way to eliminate this forced (or otherwise) conversion business is to provide education, health care and opportunities to the people who do not have access to it,then the only way anybody would change religion will be own their accord and not due to material gains or any other means.Just my thought, rememeber I am not all that religious so my views again could be radical and might not be popular, well so be it I say.
