Alot of your specific scenerio depends on when you bought those 100 at 8, when they're due to expire, etc. Their erosion, as you mention, could be due to the fact that 1 week and 2 days have expired from the 5 week period between Jan and Feb. Or it's directly related to the risk associated with the earnings event. OR BOTH I don't know if you were playing just the earnings pop, or what. You obviously know options with that type of investment, so I am sure you have thought throught a hedge strategy around such an event occuring without your optimum desired result. Best of luck.
