Jim, just wondering on this issue...

As I recall, you originally broached the subject by wondering how Compaq would fund a number of its liabilities. It had set aside reserves for restructuring costs, but it seemed to you that they would have problems paying for the costs.

I responded by suggesting that they would either issue debt or sell more stock. It seems that perhaps they are opting for the latter course under the ruse of spinning off Alta Vista. That way it looks positive to shareholders, but in reality it is a sale of an intangible asset to pay for those costs you foresaw. If so, this is the ultimate smoke and mirrors game. It all depends on what their cash flow numbers look like.
