You are correct. The Republicans have to realize that no matter how wonderful their tax proposals are, the public is not going to buy it, because their proposals come as part of a larger package that includes ban on abortions, mandatory prayer in schools etc.

So if the Republicans want to get the attention of the mainstream Joes and Janes, they have to abandon the Religious Right. But take a look at how scared their Senators are to dismiss the Clinton trial -- even when they badly want it to go away -- and you will know that it is easier said than done!

Patricia,

I thought Clinton was a Christian...at
least he makes everyone think he is. Of
course, as Machiavelli pointed out, a
great politician always makes his subjects
believe he is religious.

Anyway, yea, I do like some of Bubba's
education stuff, and support for the
Internet, but them is really small apples
in the big picture.

Doesn't it bother you that the guy continues
to bomb Muslims in an attempt to draw attention
away from this trial? Back in the '60's,
people went bezerk when Nixon started bombing
Cambodia. Now, Bill Clinton has bombed 7
nations during his term in office, and what
does he have to show for it?
