re why do you think?
Dennis, You are using SENSE, and talking rationally.
Wall St. does not seem to do that. Compaq's bad numbers will bring DELL down too, at least for a short time (buying opp for shares or options, so watch closely!)

you hit nail on the head:

if cpq meets or beats expectations, dell goes up since after all cpq duplicated dell's distribution

if cpq misses...dell goes up since (as you point out) SOMEONE is selling intc & msft inside...intc beat estimates/msft blew away...ibm was up in general but hardware (computer) sales were down...it all boils down to dell. oh yeah, gateway beat by a penny or 2
