LOU DOBBS "MONEYLINE" and COMPAQ

A very positive and meaty piece. It showed the press conference, an interview with the VP (Schrock) who will head up Alta Vista; then an interview with EP. Explained all the elements of the deal very nicely with pictures, also file pics to show the itnernent button on CPQ computers.

EP interviewed and said that the equity structure of the new Alta Vista has not been decided except that COMPAQ will retain control. So there!

Schrock said that the new company will make multi-billion in revenues. It will be profitable in two years.

After the filmed piece Lou Dobbs carried on the discussion in the studio. Said it was "very exciting", mentioned that CPQ closed up just short of its 52 week high. Said that the entrance of COMPAQ would shake things up.

In all a very good piece before earnings.

Bill: OK - my memory is scrambled. Wasn't there a scene - maybe it was "Meatball" - where he is in a frat house or camp - and he starts a patriotic speech in that mocking tone of his - and works everybody up.

I always get a kick out of the "Caddy Shack" scene when he apologise to Chevy Chase for the mess in his room - just that breaks me up, but then doesn't he go on to use a home-made vacuum cleaner? Or have I messed that up too? Is this the CPQ thread? Where am I?
