I can't answer the question about Seagate, and I think that Bill would be reluctant to comment either. However, its a safe bet that it's something to do with disk drives and Jini, but probably not JENE.

Regarding processing power becoming cheaper: that equation only seems to hold in the bloated Desktop world. If you've taken a look at the latest crop of disk drives you'll see pretty quickly that all you get is room for one or two chips, and no conceivable keyboard/screen/DIMM-chip-set will fit there, making Windows irrelevant. Still, if it could be done, all you'd need to browse the internet would be a hard-disk <grin>.

Also, as processing power becomes cheaper, doesn't this reduce the premium placed on compactness and efficiency, making more room for the big footprint of the likes of Microsoft?
