The only way I could shut "Hal" down was by turning it off at the power surge unit. It happened to me once last week and once yesterday, while I was running Explorer. Even Ctrl-Alt-Del didn't work. Win98 sucks. I was lucky that scandisk finished the task pretty fast. Jeff
