Paul,

I am not real sure exactly what some of these labs mean by certified.

I have a copy of an assay performed for C.L. Fair & Associates. The assay was performed by Skyline Labs in 1977. At the top of the page, it says "Certificate of Analysis" - at the bottom of the page it is signed by William Lehmbeck and his Arizona seal is stamped over his signature. In the space where his signature is found are the words "Certified by:"

In Arizona, before an assayer can sell his services, he must be registered with the state. I am not sure what the requirements of registration are. Some fly-by-night assayers will advertise their services in such a way that can get around this requirement and the attorney general is reluctant to prosecute.
