this stuff makes me laugh,
proof is in the pudding,
overhead is overhead,
we are talking
first in the category,
first in the mind,
first to market,
first in user friendly,
first in return customers,
first in volume,
first in revenue,
first,
first,
first,
first,
first,
they will survive,
and prosper,
they have the gutsy management,
they have the vision,
they have the ball,
they are running with the ball,
they have big blockers,
they have the cash flow,
to make this all happen,
they have the love,
they have the mo,
they have the strong hands,
this story is going to be huge,
what is the dollar volume
of this market,
80-100 billion,
is that what i remember,
is that a lie,
will amazon have 50 percent
market share,
at minimum,
are the bears,
about to get
squashed again,
do i smell something burning,
is crow about to be eaten,
again,
have i eaten my share of crow,
in my life,
is this all about ego,
is this about denial,
could i be wrong,
could this stock go to 50,
could this stock go to 500,
could we back out the marketing expense,
to equal last year,
would that allow them to have,
a 30 cent profit,
if we backed out the entire
marketing expense,
would we be a cash cow,
are the bears,
hearing what they want to hear,
are the bears,
seeing what they want to see,
is this all about my ego,
what the hell is that burning smell....

For example heres what Im thinking.... Just an example. Say you have a publisher in
NYC. You get a bunch of orders from the east coast for this book + its a regular that you
stock. If you could drop ship 50 books directly to the east coast customers and ship the
other 50 to the regional wh, you would save money (assume the regional wh is in
Virginia or something). But your ERP system knows the name and addr of the customers
which need to get to Fedex and then Fedex needs to get the Airway bill # back to you

Michelle,

This makes sense. You explained it well. Thank you.

BTW Amzn has an edge with this sales tax issue over B&N - any news on that front?
Shipping and sales tax are about the same expense in the heavily populated states.

Barnes and Noble is not charging sales tax except in New York state and one other. The states are not going to stand still for so much commerce being done and leaving them out of the equation. I am not referring to just book, music and the like. The Supreme Court stated a firm has to have nexus in a State for that State to have the right to charge a sales tax. This area becomes blearly as to how a nexus is defined. It is my opinion every State will start charging Use Taxes for "mail order items" which passes the Supreme Court sales tax issue. I doubt this will take more than another year or so.
